What does HIAB mean?

The name HIAB comes from the abbreviation of a Swedish company founded in 1944, called Hydrauliska Industri AB. The founder, Eric Sundin, saw a way to use hydraulics and a truck’s engine to power cranes. Around the same time, three brothers from Finland developed a cable lift using a truck. This lead to the Multilift company being founded to manufacture load handling equipment. The Cargotec Corporation is now the name of the HIAB company.
